*IN TRANSITION, a series of four installations created in transitional spaces (staircases, elevators, hallways), coined by french anthropologist Marc Augé as non-places: 'black holes that take us from A to B but where nothing happens.'

The project aimed to give meaning to these functional, uniform, and standardized spaces, which offer no emotional connection to their users, transforming them into an experience filled with colors, textures, and sensations.

VIVARIUM

Artistic installation created on the stairs of Casa Decor, an event held in the building that was the former British Embassy in Madrid.

(part of the IN TRANSITION* project)

Inspired by the aristocratic vivariums of past times, where the wealthiest showcased their collections of exotic plants and animals brought from the 'New World' as a demonstration of power and prestige, the installation recreated a surreal universe governed by its own rules, creating a dreamlike environment inhabited by fantastic beings.

By exploring the peculiar nature of the building that hosted the event, the project took advantage of the geometry and curved lines of the staircase to create surprising optical illusions, generating giant trompe-l'œil effects.

Through research and selection from the collections of botanical artist museums from the 14th to the 16th centuries, the positions, proportions, and nature of the images were manipulated, creating an experience full of discoveries where the visitor was not just a passive observer, but an explorer.
