VIVARIUM
Art instalation carried out on the staircases of Casa Decor Madrid, held in what was the former headquarters of the British Embassy.
A surrealist universe inhabited by fantastic beings.
An artwork inspired by the contemporary and symbolic recreation of the aristocratic Vivarium of the past, where the wealthy displayed their collections of exotic plants and animals brought from the "New World" as a demonstration of power and prestige.
The work used the building's peculiar architecture - its circular geometry - to generate optical effects that created surprising trompe-l'oeil across the steps and curves of the staircases.
Through the research and selection of museum archives featuring botanical artists from the 14th to the 16th centuries, the positions, proportions, and nature of the images were digitally manipulated.
This process created a collage that reproduced a setting of magical realism, where visitors were invited to step inside not as passive observers, but as discoverers of a world imbued with life and enchantment.
