Retro-Taxidermy
Sculpture conceived for the commemorative exhibition of the 125th anniversary of the emblematic whisky brand Glenfiddich.
We cannot stop advance of time, no matter how hard we try!
RETRO-TAXIDERMY arises from reflection on the human challenge of accepting the processes of aging and death.
Made from fresh barley spikes (the raw material of whisky), the sculpture celebrated the passage of time instead of denying it.
A living artwork that gradually changed from the green color of the freshly harvested plant to the brown and yellow tones of dried barley.
By drawing a parallel with the whisky maturation process, which acts as a positive factor that gives it value and distinction, the sculpture was a call to awaken a more organic vision over time, leading the viewer to embrace the inherent beauty of natural processes.
