*IN TRANSITION, a series of four installations created in transitional spaces (staircases, elevators, hallways), coined by french anthropologist Marc Augé as non-places: 'black holes that take us from A to B but where nothing happens.'
The project aimed to give meaning to these functional, uniform, and standardized spaces, which offer no emotional connection to their users, transforming them into an experience filled with colors, textures, and sensations.
FROM OSCAR TO HEAVEN
Artistic installation created on the stairs of the terrace at the Hotel Óscar Room Mate in Madrid.
(part of the IN TRANSITION* project)
The project recreated an exuberant 'Garden of Delights' on the terrace of the Hotel Óscar Room Mate, using a fresh and provocative language.
The inspiration came from its surroundings: the vibrant LGBTI neighborhood of Chueca.
Upon arrival, the visitor encountered the legs and curves of Eva. The position of her genitalia was exactly at the height of the window, turning it into a portal that opened to the sky of Madrid.
In the second part of the staircase, the visitor was greeted by the legs of several Adams, with the handrail strategically positioned at the height of their pubic areas and numerous hands offering pomegranates - symbols of the sun, life, and female fertility - instead of apples, the forbidden fruit that led to the fall from paradise.
As they traversed this sensual Eden inhabited by imaginary plants and fruits, the spectator was invited to enter the hotel's terrace guided by their instincts and open to experiences that are "beyond good and evil."
